Since his initial induction in 2007, the Argentine star has shattered records by consecutively making the FIFPRO Team of the Year for 17 consecutive years. However, in the preceding year, he failed to secure a spot on the prestigious list, thereby ending his streak. In the most recent campaigns, Messi has once more been named among the candidates for the elite team, marking his 20th appearance on the Team of the Year shortlist.
